OCPR Outdoor Skills: Introduction to Birdwatching (in partnership with Earthquest, Inc.)
Our friends at Earthquest Inc. will help facilitate this introduction to the wonderful winged world of birdwatching. Learn some tips from the experienced conservationists and avian enthusiasts from Earthquest. Binoculars are required. Participants may bring their own binoculars or purchase a basic pair from Orange County Parks & Recreation (additional $10 fee applies per set of binoculars). This program is intended for kids aged 6-12, but other ages may attend. The registration fee is $10/child (capped at $20 per household, up to 4 kids). A parent/guardian must attend with the child (no charge for the parent). This program will involve an introduction to recreational birdwatching, along with actual observations and a scavenger-hunt style game. Some of the class will take place under the Lion’s Pavilion at Veteran’s Park, but much will be outdoors. We would like to thank the Town of Orange for hosting this event. In the event of bad weather conditions, it will be rescheduled to the rain date of September 16, 2021. Register early, space is limited, and registrations MUST be received no later than August 30, 2021.
