Parks & Recreation Programs

  1. OCPR & OC Fire and EMS Free Adult CPR Class

    November 13, 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM @ 151 Berry Hill Road

    Thanks to a grant from Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC), the County of Orange Fire and EMS Department will be instructing Community Adult CPR classes for the citizens of Orange County at no cost to the participant! Two classes are currently scheduled, one on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018 and one on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018. The November class will be held from 6-9pm, the December class will be held from 9am-12noon. You must be 16 or older and an Orange County resident to participate. Space is very limited so sign up today. Upon completion of the course, participants will receive an American Heart Association (AHA) Adult CPR Certification. Class will be instructed by Fire & EMS staff. Registration is handled through Orange County Parks & Recreation. Pre-registration is required. Contact OCPR at (540) 672-5435.

    OCPR’s next Tai Chi Fundamentals Session begins Oct. 23 and will continue for 8 weeks of classes, ending on Dec. 18 (no class on Dec. 4). Have fun learning graceful, slow moving form of exercise that has ancient roots tracing back into the depths of Chinese culture and philosophy of centuries past. Classes are held at Dogwood Village in the Senior Living Building Wellness Room on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Signups for our ongoing Tai Chi programs are accepted at any time during a program. The registration fee for this program is $95. Open to adults. You can sign up anytime, but you must register before attending.

    A fun dance-based and wellness program for kids developed by UVA Children’s Hospital. Class will provide 30 minutes of dance fitness by licensed instructors, followed by 15 minutes of discussions about health and wellness topics. The program is free and is being offered afterschool at Gordon Barbour Elementary School on Mondays, from 3:15-4:00pm. Contact OCPR to register.
