2nd Annual Liberty Ride

Saturday, September 21

The length of the ride is approximately 11 miles round-trip, and the terrain is pasture land, wooded trails, and gravel roads, so please make sure horses are shod accordingly. The ride will leave Oakland Heights Farm as a group and travel across the pasture land and wooded trails. The ride comes out onto Chicken Mountain Road (gravel), where a police escort will take the participants to a gated side entrance to James Madison’s Montpelier. Here, James & Dolley Madison interpreters will join the ride and be taken to the Montpelier mansion by carriage. Lunch is served at James Madison’s Montpelier at approximately 12:30pm, where water is also provided for horses. Following lunch, the ride follows the same trail back to Oakland Heights Farm. Altogether, the ride lasts from 10am until approximately 4pm.
