Orange County, VA – Due to the passing of Supervisor S. Teel Goodwin, there is a vacancy in the seat representing District 3 with the Orange County Board of Supervisors. The Board of Supervisors is announcing its intention to receive letters of interest from qualified individuals for appointment by the Board to serve as the interim District 3 Supervisor from February 9, 2021 until the special election in November 2021. Qualifications for appointment are the same for serving as the District 3 Supervisor. District 3 includes the north-central section of Orange County which borders Culpeper and Madison counties as well as portions of the Town of Orange. Letters of interest should include a statement indicating whether the interested party plans to run for election in November for the remainder of the unexpired term that ends December 31, 2023. Letters should be submitted to Theodore L. Voorhees, County Administrator, and will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. on January 29, 2021 via one (1) of the following methods:

The Board of Supervisors will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. in the Board Meeting Room in the basement of the Gordon Building, located at 112 West Main Street, Orange, VA 22960. The purpose of this meeting will be to consider appointment of the interim District 3 Supervisor, review the letters of interest submitted, and to give those interested individuals a brief opportunity to address the Board.
