Press Release - Orange County Office on Youth to Offer Social Media Dangers Presentation

As a part of a Third Thursday Series offered by the Orange County Office on Youth, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office will make a public presentation on Thursday, March 16, 2017, regarding social media dangers for the most vulnerable citizens.

The Third Thursday Series was created in response to community input concerning issues that need more attention in the area.   Each third Thursday of March, April, and May, the Office on Youth will host a different topic of interest to present, as well as a pizza dinner for busy individuals and families.

The event is free to attend and the pizza dinner is also provided free of charge to all. March’s presentation will focus on social media dangers for the most vulnerable citizens, including youth and seniors, and will include tips on how to protect you and your loved ones.  The presentation will highlight ways predators use social media to make contact with vulnerable individuals.

The April and May sessions will focus on how to access special education services in the school system and how to access Department of Social Services programs, respectively.

All sessions begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be held at the Town of Orange Community Room, located at 235 Warren Street, Orange, Virginia.

For additional information, please contact the Office on Youth at (540) 672-5484 or Ashley Jacobs, Program Coordinator, at ajacobs@orangecountyva.gov.
