Public Hearing to be Held for Route 20 / Route 231 Roundabout

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) invites the public to attend an upcoming design public hearing on the proposed project to construct a roundabout at the intersection of Route 20 (Constitution Highway) and Route 231 (Blue Ridge Parkway) in Orange County.

VDOT proposes to replace the existing two-way stop intersection with a single-lane roundabout to improve safety and reduce automobile accidents. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2021 and will take about one (1) year to complete.

The public hearing is scheduled for Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in Montpelier’s Lewis Hall Classroom, located at 13384 Laundry Road, Montpelier Station, Virginia. Anyone requiring special assistance to attend and participate in this meeting may contact VDOT at (540) 829-7500, (800) 367-7623, or TTY/TDD 711.

VDOT staff will be available to discuss the project at this open house style hearing. The public may review project plans, ask questions, and obtain information about the project’s timeline, cost, and travel impacts, as well as provide feedback on the project orally or in writing.

Citizens unable to attend may submit written comments by mail to Justin Warfield, Project Manager, 1601 Orange Road, Culpeper, Virginia 22701, through Sunday, March 18, 2018. Email comments may be sent to
