Press Release - Upcoming Tire Recycling Amnesty Event at Orange County Landfill

The Orange County Landfill, StreamSweepers, and the Orange County Litter Control Committee will be hosting a free tire recycling event on Saturday, June 16, 2018 (rain or shine) to help alleviate the growing problem of tire accumulation and improper disposal. The event will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Orange County Landfill, located at 11350 Porter Road, Orange, Virginia.  This is an opportunity for Orange County citizens to responsibly discard unwanted tires without paying the usual fee of $2.50 per tire.

Accepted items include standard car and truck sized tires.  The largest size accepted will be R22.5 tires (standard tractor trailer size). A maximum of 12 tires per drop-off vehicle will be accepted.  No commercial or business drop-offs.  This event is open to Orange County residents and/or property owners only.  Proof of residency or land ownership may be required upon request, and participants should be prepared to provide such proof.  The event will be first come, first served, and will end when trailers are full or the scheduled end time of 12:00 p.m. arrives.  Staff and volunteers will be onsite to assist with the unloading and loading of tires.

This event is made possible with the support of StreamSweepers and many community supporters, including Partners: Orange/Gordonsville Pharmacy, University Tire & Auto, and EZ Performance Center, as well as Sponsors: American Woodmark, MPS, Virginia Tractor, Clore Automotive, Edward Jones, Inn at Westwood Farm, Inn at Willow Grove, Jack Samuels Realty, Mason Insurance Agency, Orange Madison COOP, Orange Tire Inc., Pro Collision Center, Purcell Custom Firearms Shop, and The Lightwell/Willow Spring Brewery/Beggars Banquet. These local businesses, the Orange County Landfill, StreamSweepers, and the Orange County Litter Control Committee are dedicated to enhancing the environment in Orange County and hope that residents will stop by to dispose of unwanted tires properly.
