The Orange County Board of Supervisors is pleased to welcome Brenda G. Garton, ICMA Credentialed Manager - Retired, as Interim County Administrator. Ms. Garton brings over twenty-five years of local government administration experience and has most recently served as Interim County Administrator in both Rappahannock and Greene Counties and as Interim City Manager for the City of Lexington. Prior to her retirement in 2017, she served as County Administrator in Orange, Prince George, Gloucester, and Frederick Counties. Ms. Garton will apply her experience and knowledge of local government management in Virginia to assume the day-to-day operations of the County, as well as to ensure that projects currently underway continue to move forward while the Board conducts its search for the next County Administrator.
“I am pleased to be coming home to work in Orange County for the upcoming months and look forward to assisting the Board of Supervisors as they conduct the search for a permanent County Administrator,” said Garton. “The Board is confident in the abilities of County staff. I look forward to working with them as we continue to move forward with programs and projects consistent with the Board’s vision for the County.”

We welcome Ms. Garton back to the Orange County team.”
Ms. Garton possesses strong skills in communication, public speaking, and team building and is committed to excellent service to County residents. Her clear vision, open communication style, and collaborative approach will benefit all Orange County citizens. Ms. Garton graduated from Orange County High School and early in her career taught mathematics at OCHS for eight years.
Following several days of collaboration with current County Administrator R. Bryan David, Ms. Garton will assume the duties of Interim County Administrator effective January 15, 2020.
