Animal Shelter

The Orange County Animal Shelter provides animal control services and shelters unwanted, lost or abandoned animals.

Animal control, which collects stray, sick or aggressive animals, is a function of the Sheriff's Office. The Orange County Humane Society assists animal control by helping find placement for homeless pets.

HOUNDS are being offered for a nominal adoption fee of only $25 during the months of April and May!  These wonderful dogs make great family pets and companions; they just need love and exercise!  All dogs have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, wormed, tested and micro chipped!  Adopters receive all medical records, a free 4 lb bag of Science Diet dry food and a leash/collar with adoption.

Thursday, May 20th at 8:15 AM, the Orange County Humane Society will send a van load of dogs and cats to the low cost spay/neuter clinic in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

They will be altered and returned at 7:15 a.m. the following morning.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE AN ORANGE COUNTY RESIDENT TO PARTICIPATE.

Fees will be as follows:

Spay dog, $70; spay cat or neuter dog, $60; neuter cat $40. Rabies vaccination $8.00.  There are no hidden fees.

Please spread the word.  If you or someone you know wants to send a dog or cat to be fixed, have them leave their phone number on the Humane Society's voice mail at 540-672-0069.  Someone will call with all of the information needed.

The venue for pick-up and drop-off for the next Humane Society spay/neuter run to Harrisonburg has been moved to the Orange County Fairgrounds.  This is to accommodate more clients (better parking) and to facilitate the comfort of humans and animals in inclement weather.
