Building Inspection

Orange County employs a full-time building official to inspect new construction in the county. Building permits are required for any addition or alteration to an existing home, or for construction of storage  buildings in excess of 150 square feet. Electrical and plumbing changes  also require a permit.

Inspection fees vary according to the type of work, whether it is commercial or residential. Some projects have  a flat fee.

The building official inspects alterations or construction for personal and property safety. If citizens are unsure whether or not their work will require a permit, they are encourage to call the building official's office.
