    Any person not employed by Orange County Government wishing to address the Youth Council membership must first seek permission from the Youth Commission at a regular business meeting. Please submit a written request to the Office on Youth Director in order to be placed on the agenda for the next regular Commission meeting. Please include the reason for wishing to speak with the Council membership.

Parks & Recreation Programs

  1. OCPR Karate at OES

    April 20, 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM @ Orange Elementary School

    In addition to our GBES Karate program, which is ongoing, OCPR is offering karate at Orange Elementary. It will be a monthly ongoing program held on Mondays & Wednesdays 4:30pm-5:30pm. This program will be instructed by Spike Richards, and will offer two options. The first is attending one class per week for $35 per month, the second is attending two classes per week for $60 per month. There will be an additional one-time uniform fee, which will be payable to the instructor.

  2. OCPR Adult Isshinryu Karate

    April 20, 6:45 PM - 7:45 PM @ Lightfoot Elementary School Gym

    Enjoy affordable karate through OCPR! Our IOTKA certified instructor, Dan Patterson, is offering a program with classes held on Monday & Wednesday evenings for 8 weeks in Lightfoot Elementary School Gym. There will be no class on May 25, so there will be 15 classes total. The cost for this program is an insanely low $50 per participant (less than $3.50 per class). Pre-registration is required. Don't miss out. Any registrations received after April 10 will be charged a $5 late fee.

    Brought to you a partnership with Ron Craddock Karate Academy, your child will study martial arts for the betterment of their health, discipline, work ethic, and overall happiness. The Ron Craddock Karate Academy has years of experience working with children, and their instructors are highly qualified and respected among other martial artists. The Gordon Barbour Elementary School program is ongoing, and held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The beginners class is held from 6:00 p.m. until 6:45 p.m., the advanced class is held from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. At GBES, the Karate program has a $60 per month fee, which is paid every month for as long as the child is participating.

  5. OCPR Adult Kickball League Opening Night

    April 22, 6:15 PM - 8:00 PM @ Veteran's Park Field

    OCPR continues our adult league program into the spring with kickball. Enjoy everyone's favorite playground game! Teams must be made up of 10-15 players, and at least 3 must be female (2 must play each game). Players must be 16 or older (Captain must be 20 or older).

    This program is open to boys & girls ages 3-13 and is divided into three age groups. The registration fee will be $30 per participant. While there is no firm deadline in place for this program, it fills up VERY quickly, please register now to ensure a spot. We will no longer be able to hold spots without payment, it is required at the time of registration. PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED.

    April 28, 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM @ Dogwood Village Senior Living Building Wellness Room

    Tai Chi is a graceful, slow moving form of exercise that has ancient roots tracing back into the depths of Chinese culture and philosophy of centuries past. A beneficial daily practice embraced by both young and old alike, its benefits will include increased flexibility and more joint mobility, increased lung capacity, and greater leg and hip strength with an enhanced sense of balance.

    April 29, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM @ Locust Grove Primary School

    At OCPR's youth basketball clinics, your child will learn the fundamentals of the game. This program is not a league, it is a skills building program that emphasizes the fundamentals so that your child can learn and love the game of basketball.
