Roads/Trucking

Orange County is served by an excellent network of U.S. and state highways. U.S. Routes 15 and 522 and State Primary Route 3 provide access to points north and south, while U.S. Route 33 and State Primary Route 20 provide access to points east and west.  Interstates 95, 66, 64 and 81 are all within 55 miles of the county. The length of Orange County is traversed by State Primary Route 20, connecting Wilderness to Charlottesville, and is bisected by U.S. Route 522, connecting Culpeper and Lake Anna.

Railroads

Norfolk - Southern Corporation and CSX Transportation provide freight service. Passenger service is provided by Amtrak nearby in Culpeper, Fredericksburg and Charlottesville.

Airports

Orange County is conveniently served by both regional and international airports. Regionally, Orange County Airport has a runway length of 3400 with a parallel taxi runway and is ideal for non-jet travel. For national and international travel, Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport, Dulles International, Reagan National, and Richmond International Airport are within reasonable commuting distance.

Ports

The Port of Hampton Roads, the nation's leader in export tonnage, is within three hours via Interstate 64. The Richmond Deep-Water Terminal, located on the James River, is within 90 minutes. 

Buses

Local bus service is provided by Town of Orange Transportation (TOOT). Long distance service is provided by Greyhound.

54 miles from Orange along U.S. Route 15 north to U.S. Route 29 north

I-81: 

50 miles from Gordonsville along U.S. Route 33 west

Major Geographic Areas

Lake of the Woods/Wilderness

State Primary Route 3 provides 4-lane access through eastern Orange County. Lake of the Woods (pop. 5,180) is connected by this transportation corridor to U.S. Route 29 in Culpeper (20 miles) and Interstate 95 in Fredericksburg (15 miles). This section is connected to the town of Orange, the county seat,  by State Primary Route 20 (23 miles). 

Orange/Gordonsville

Orange (pop. 4,123) and Gordonsville (pop. 1,498) are two picturesque and historic towns located only 9 miles from each other and connected by a 4-lane section of U.S. Route 15. Orange is connected to U.S. Route 29 (4-lane access north/south) at Culpeper by U.S. Route 15 (19 miles). Gordonsville is connected to Interstate 64 at Zion's Crossroads by U.S. Route 15 (12 miles), and to U.S. Route 29 at Ruckersville by U.S. Route 33 (13 miles).
