Orange County Public Library System
The Orange County Library System was established in 1903. It consists of 3 branches - Orange, Gordonsville, and Wilderness (Lake of the Woods).
Recreation/Cultural Events
Orange County has numerous ball fields and tennis courts. We also have one private golf course and two public golf courses (18-hole and 9-hole); swimming pools; amateur theater, museums, art galleries, playgrounds and picnic areas. The state maintains Lake Orange, a 124-acre fishing lake. A portion of 13,000 acre Lake Anna lies within the county. Health Services/Emergency Services
Health care services are provided by the Orange Family Physicians (affiliated with Martha Jefferson Hospital), University Physicians (affiliated with University of Virginia Health System), the Wilderness Medical Center (affiliated with Culpeper Regional Hospital), the Gordonsville Health Center, and the R.S. LeGarde Health Center. No fewer than nine dentists serve in the area.
The Orange County Nursing Home provides care for 134 persons with an additional 34 bed assisted living wing. The Gordon House, an assisted living facility in Gordonsville, has 21 beds.
Regional hospital services are provided by Martha Jefferson Hospital and University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville, Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg and Culpeper Regional Hospital.
Emergency services include 5 independent fire departments, consisting of between 150 and 200 volunteers, and over 25 modern fire fighting vehicles. The Orange County Volunteer Rescue Squad operates out of 3 locations. The Emergency 911 System is operated by the Orange County Emergency Communications Center.

Cultural
Several major events and festivals are held annually in Orange County including the Somerset Steam and Gas Association’s Pasture Party, Orange Street Festival, Gordonsville Street Festival, Orange County Fair, Races at Montpelier, and Montpelier Wine Festival. The Four County Players offer a variety of plays, including the works of Shakespeare. Additionally, there are many local historical attractions in Orange County.
