Controlled Burns

Prior to conducting a controlled burn in Orange County, we request you to contact the Orange County Emergency Communications Center at 540-672-1234. Dispatch will obtain the location the control burn will be, name of the person that will be with the burn and a contact number. The information you provide will be logged into our mapping system and will be accessible in the event a neighbor or passerby would happen to report a fire in the area. Please do not dial 9-1-1 to report that you are conducting a controlled burn.

Remember, the burning law is in effect from February 15 - April 30 each year**. During this time, you may not begin burning until 4pm and cannot add any new fuel to the fire after Midnight.
