WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU CALL 911…..

911 SHOULD BE CALLED IMMEDIATELY FOR ANY EMERGENCY WHICH IS THREATENING TO LIFE OR PROPERTY.

Examples of circumstances to call 911 include but are limited to, medical problems, fire emergencies, suspicious persons or activities, crimes in progress, missing persons, and domestic problems.

All other non-emergency requests for service (control burns, general citizen information, keys locked in vehicles) should be directed to our administrative line at 672-1234 or 672-1235.

When calling 911, remember to always:

  • REMAIN CALM
  • SPEAK CLEARLY
  • ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS
  • LISTEN TO ANY INSTRUCTIONS

Be prepared to answer questions from the Communications Officer. It is imperative for them to obtain as much information as possible in order to provide the correct emergency response and in the interest of responder safety. If you are reporting a law enforcement related emergency, you will be asked to remain on the phone if it is safe for you to do so, while the Communications Officer transfers you to the dispatcher at the Sheriff’s Office.
