Our Mission

The Orange County Animal Shelter is responsible for providing humane care to unwanted, lost or abandoned animals. Our mission:
  • Protect the animals entrusted to our care
  • Find permanent homes for lost or abandoned pets
  • Promote responsible pet ownership
  • Improve quality of life in Orange County

Support Agencies
The Orange County Humane Society assists by providing volunteers for adoption events and by holding fundraisers to support the Shelter’s Emergency Veterinary Fund, spay/neuter program, microchip program and related endeavors to benefit the animals.

Animal Control - which collects stray, sick or aggressive animals and conducts animal welfare investigations - is a separate function of the Sheriff’s Office.

The Orange County Animal Shelter sponsors low-cost vaccination clinics every spring and fall. Rabies and distemper shots are available for both cats and dogs. These clinics are open to everyone, regardless of county of residence. Please ensure that your dogs are safely secured on leash and your cats either harnessed or in an appropriate carrier.
