School Age Child Care
The County of Orange currently operates three school age child care programs that are administered by the Office on Youth (OOY) Director. Our programs began in the Fall of 1993, under the supervision of the Orange County Parks and Recreation, at Gordon Barbour Elementary School.

A second program opened in the summer of 1994 at Orange Elementary School. Over the next several years, several other child care programs, including an infant/toddler program, opened throughout the County. Due to a lack of attendance, these programs closed after several years of operation as they were not self-sustainable. Recently interest has been expressed in re-establishing the Locust Grove Child Care Program at Locust Grove Primary School and it will re-open for the 2013-2014 school year.

Organizational Changes
In 2010, the County Administration reorganized some of the county departments. The Office on Youth, which had been under the supervision of the Parks and Recreation Director, was separated back into its own department and the child care programs were moved under the supervision of the OOY, changing its name to the Orange County School Age Child Care (OCSACC). Our three current programs are completely self-sufficient, relying solely on tuition and fees to operate.

Licensing
OCSACC is licensed by the Department of Social Services and includes care before school, after school and full days during summer break and some student and teacher holidays/workdays. Please visit the “Child Care Facilities” page for site specific operational information.

Eligibility
Children must be eligible to attend elementary school in order to attend the OCSACC. Children enrolled for Kindergarten in the fall may enroll in the OCSACC program the summer immediately preceding their Kindergarten year. Children attending Middle School are also eligible to attend through the age of twelve.

Children do not need to be enrolled in Orange County Schools or be a resident of Orange County to attend the OCSACC. The program is conducted on a non-discriminatory basis without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, or disability.
