Fall Programs
Introduction to Tai Chi: $95
Our popular Tai Chi program has been revisited and redesigned to allow for more definitive progression through the form.  Starting September 16, join us and start to experience the many benefits of regular Tai Chi practice.  This first session will be 8 weeks long, with class meeting on Tuesday mornings 10-11am at Dogwood Village's Wellness Room.  Tai chi is a graceful, slow moving form of  exercise whose ancient roots trace back into the depths of Chinese culture and philosophy of centuries past. A beneficial daily practice embraced by both young and old alike, its benefits include increased flexibility and more joint mobility, increased lung capacity, and greater leg and hip strength with an enhanced sense of balance.  The first 8 week session of our “Introduction to Tai Chi” class will cover the first third of Cheng Man Ching’s simplified Tai Chi Ch’uan (37 posture form) based on the “Yang” style. A second Introduction class will complete this first third.  This program is for all ages 18 and older. Continued 8 week sessions are planned, with completion of 5 sessions covering the whole form.  No uniform or special equipment is required. However, loose fitting clothing & soft, comfortable, flat-soled shoes are highly recommended.  For more information about what will be covered, as well as general Tai Chi information, visit www.floatingcloudtaichi.org.

Intermediate Tai Chi: $95
Our popular Tai Chi program has been revisited and redesigned to allow for more definitive progression through the form(Cheng Man Ching’s simplified Tai Chi Ch’uan, 37 posture form).  For students of our previous programs who are ready to advance, and those with significant Tai Chi experience, this intermediate session will build upon the material learned in the introduction sessions.  This session will begin on September 18, and will last 8 weeks, with class meeting on Thursday evenings 6:30-7:30pm at Dogwood Village's Wellness Room.  Continued 8 week sessions are planned.  No uniform or special equipment is required. However, loose fitting clothing & soft, comfortable, flat-soled shoes are highly recommended.  For more information about what will be covered, as well as general Tai Chi information, visit  www.floatingcloudtaichi.org.

Basic Photography: Ages 13+, $99
Modern cameras are amazing tools. They can help us capture and preserve moments better than ever before, but their many features and terms can be overwhelming and intimidating. The main goal of this course is to help you become comfortable with your camera and gain a basic understanding of some photography concepts, so you can focus on the art of photography rather than the mechanics of your camera.  Students should provide their own camera, since the goal of this course is to help you become familiar with the camera you will be using.  This camera does not need to be a specific kind of camera, bring whatever you have.  Space is very limited, so pre-registration is required. The location of this course will be the Town of Orange Community Room on Warren Street.  Four 2-hour classes will be held on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6-8pm.  The dates of these classes will be September 2, 4, 9, and 11, 2014.  There will be 8 total hours of instruction, including actual photo shoots.  Our instructor, Kent Potter, honorably served for 20 years in the Navy as a photographer, and has traveled much of the world with a camera. As a photojournalist his work has been published in numerous magazines and newspapers around the world. His expertise in photography is vast and varied.

Adult Isshinryu Karate: Ages 16+, $50
Join us for a ten week session of adult karate lessons, starting October 6 and ending December 17 (no class Thanksgiving week).  Lessons will be held Mondays & Wednesdays 7-8pm at the Locust Grove Primary School Gymnasium, making 20 classes total.  Pre-registration is required.  Our instructor, Dan Paterson, is a IOTKA Certified Instructor.
