Summary (Project Description from Narrative)

To: Orange County Plan Review Committee, SUP and Commissioner

Please note:  A&M operated legally in the county from 2010-2012 without a SUP in place.  They applied for and were granted the SUP under the DIRECTION of the Virginia State Police in order to operate as a state inspection station.  The SUP was for the purposes of the State Inspection Station only.   The new structure does not pertain to state inspections nor does the proposed office addition. 

The Addition on the plan will show as the new addition this addition was constructed without permits.   This in turn resulted in a stop work order on the project.  The project was completed to a phase which allowed the structure to stay safe and protected from the elements.  The structure is fully unfinished on the inside and ready for county inspection.

-The existing driveway/entrance was not changed in any way
 -The existing grading was not changed or affected in any way
-The general parking area is still the same allotted area as before the construction

Narrative:  The purpose of the addition was to protect the Towing fleet A & M has.  These trucks are upwards of $1 million dollars and the previous layout for parking them was causing premature damage and wear on the trucks. The addition shall serve as a home for the fleet and areas for the fleet to be serviced.  

A&M is the premier towing company for Orange and our surrounding areas.  As Orange County continues to grow the demand for auto repair is growing with it.  This has increased the volume of business, strengthened the reputation and allowed A&M to diversify even more.  This benefits the county in more tax generated income and the ability to service county vehicles faster and more efficiently.  A&M does perform a large amount of work on law enforcement vehicles as well multi-county fire/rescue apparatus.  

The second phase of this proposal is the front addition of the office space and a customer waiting area.   The current office is a shed.   This serves to house a desk and hand written tickets.  The new expanded office space allows for dedicated accounting and general office space.   A new customer waiting area that is climate controlled and employee break room will allow a much more efficient and pleasant experience when having your vehicles serviced.
