Orange County, VA – As one of their major projects for 2021, the Orange County Parks & Recreation Department plans to install a dog park in a currently unused portion of Booster Park, located at 11177 Bloomsbury Road, Orange, Virginia. Given its close proximity to the Orange County Airport, the dog park will be called “Skydog Orange Dog Park.” The Department intends to fundraise through 2021, begin construction in the winter of 2021, and open the park in the spring of 2022.
To help make this project a reality, the Orange County Parks & Recreation Foundation, a 501c3 organization with the mission of supporting the Parks and Recreation Department, will be selling commemorative t-shirts. The front of the t-shirts will feature a unique, full-color design created by OCHS art teacher, Jamie Yurasits Howie, based on photos of Sierra, canine companion of OCPR Director, Tim Moubray, (pictured to the right). The reverse will feature the phrase, “Give a Cheer, Give a Bark. Buy a Shirt, Build a Park.”
Beginning Monday, January 11, 2021, and ending Friday, February 5, 2021, short-sleeve and long-sleeve t-shirts will be available for presale for $15 and $20 each. Following the pre-sale period, prices will increase to $20 and $25. Shirts may be ordered by completing a presale order form located at https://www.orangecountyva.gov/DocumentCenter/View/3603/Dog-Park-TShirt-Fundraiser-Presale-Order-Form and returning it to the Parks & Recreation Department at 146 North Madison Road, Suite 205, Orange, VA 22960. Payment must be made by cash or check only. Checks should be made out to the “OCPR Foundation.”
